I finally succeeded in getting in contact with the horseback riding circle and signing up to participate in November’s activities! It was hard to get in contact with them, but thanks to one of my friends in Niji no kai, I was able to get in contact with one of the circle leaders. It’s also not too expensive because I brought my own boots and helmet, so I don’t have to rent them. Since I came to Japan I’ve really been missing horses and riding so I’m so glad I have the opportunity to participate in this circle, no matter how basic the riding turns out to be. Maybe I can make some friends through this circle, too. I wonder what kinds of horses there are in Japan〜! ♪
I found this frog while walking on my way to a meeting with my circle. It’s about the size of a softball! I didn’t know such big frogs exist in Japan!
Tabenomihoudai with my friends! (All you can eat all you can drink)
Everyone in Niji is so nice. I had a really good time just hanging out and talking. I didn’t really feel like drinking, but the food was delicious and the view over Takadanobaba was great, even though you can’t tell from this picture.
This is coffee from a vending machine. Basically, this is the typical coffee in Japan– a very small can. As you can see, it is smaller than my phone. lol
So before I came to Japan, I heard so much about how amazing Japanese vending machines are, that they’re so cool and you can buy anything and they’re so futuristic looking. In reality, Japanese vending machines basically all sell the same 10 drinks. I’ve seen a ramen vending machine once, but otherwise it’s just the usual options.
Moreover, the drinks sold in vending machines are more expensive than the same ones sold in conbini. Yet, often you’ll find 2 or 3 vending machines right out in front of a conbini.
People in America, please don’t believe the lies about Japanese vending machines!
This is a road near Waseda. When it’s lunch time, this road is flooded with students looking to buy a bento. The bento stores on this street are cheap and delicious so it’s clear why it’s so popular. I happened to get out of class 5 minutes before the lunch rush, so I got a clear picture of the street without looking like a tourist (一石二鳥)(two birds with one stone).
